Ricardo’s history of driveline and transmission testing dates back over fifty years to the pioneering work of Harry Ferguson Research in all-wheel drive systems. Strategic investment over the past decade has created a world-class transmission test and development capability at Ricardo. The company’s test and development facilities, knowledge and expertise is fundamental to its highly successful transmission product design capability but is also available as a separate service to customers.

World-class transmission test and development services:

Preparation and management of complete validation programmes
Development testing of driveline systems and components
In-house facilities for a wide range of tests including two- and 4-wheel drive (3E and 5E) rigs and a semi-anechoic chamber
Rig test facilities including gearshift durability, tilt, deflection and end of line testing for production systems
Replicating client problems in order to understand causal mechanisms and hence develop solutions
Expert consultancy and advice to help customers specify their own test equipment and facilities
Liaising with specialist test houses to offer extended capabilities
