Ricardo has been a leader in NVH development and optimization for over 40 years. Throughout this time we have continuously improved our analysis techniques, facilities and resources. From product concept development through to production, we deliver class-leading NVH solutions to meet the most exacting requirements both of our customers and of product legislation. As a result of this capability and experience, the engines designed by Ricardo typically have class leading NVH characteristics.

• Problem identification, analysis and resolution for existing products
• NVH optimization for new engine concepts and designs
• Comprehensive CAE analysis – including multi-body dynamic modelling and FEA – to support NVH optimization, including many in-house products available for licence such as Ricardo WAVE
• Benchmark testing and target setting using the extensive Ricardo database
• Access to three powertrain and one transmission semi-anechoic chambers and a full vehicle semi-anechoic test facility
• Concern characterisation using noise source ranking and combustion noise analysis techniques
• Comprehensive NVH validation testing from engine and vehicle test facilities to our own drive-by noise test site
