Transport Energy and Climate Policy Consultant

In this position the successful candidate will perform analytical research in order to support various activities of the energy system models PRIMES and PRIMES-TREMOVE, will support the management of projects and participate in business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, collect and process information from scientific, technical and market sources performing quantitative assessments including structuring, keep up-to-date and analysing large datasets relevant to energy, economy and transport.
- Operate and analyse inputs and outputs of transport and energy systems modelling, identifying trends, impacts and causal relationships.
- Contribute to technical, and energy and climate policy quantitative analysis, lead and assist in the preparation and presentation of reports and related material, all while ensuring delivery within project timelines.
- Support and/or lead project management activities coordinating a team of experts in delivering projects in accordance with client requirements and following the project management process of Ricardo.
- Contribute to developing and delivering our growing portfolio of transport modelling projects within the E3-Modelling Transport team including leading and contributing to the development of technical proposals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sector technology developments, trends, challenges and regulations.
Key Competencies and Experience
- MSc/PhD in engineering, applied mathematics, economics, physics, or transport (preferred).
- Experience in energy or transport system analysis and quantitative methods, ideally with energy systems models.
- Proficient in analytical tools for data analysis and visualization.
- Interest in sustainable transport and its impact on the energy-economy-environment nexus.
- Knowledge of European/international transport policy issues.
- Skilled in data collection, validation, analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven writing skills with experience in academic, technical, or policy report authorship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- Experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality results.
- Capable of formulating technical action plans and managing projects to completion.
- Ability to identify business development opportunities and draft proposals.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal communication.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaborative mindset with a learning attitude.
