Powertrain Diagnostic & Rework Lead
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum plus benefits

The Role
To lead the Rework team in supporting business requirements by diagnosing engine faults found in production, at the customer site, in the field and in pre-production.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigating suspected product non-conformities and reporting findings.
- Reworking non-conforming products to good condition and returning to production workflow.
- To lead and develop a team of rework technicians, including definition of performance objectives, internal recruitment and managing team member performance.
- Ensure all diagnostic & rework team activities are carried out safely and all processes meet the required HSE guidelines, including off-site activities. Overseeing the safe systems of work in the rework room.
- Monitor team performance by contribution to Operational KPIs.
- Ensure rework activities are conducted in adherence to the Quality Management System, ensuring regular review and improvement of owned processes and procedures.
- Ensure all administration is completed for each rework task. e.g. rework tracker, Intelex demerit reporting, scrap reporting
- Lead the diagnosis of engine faults (direct cause) to inform the problem-solving team.
- Supports investigation and resolution of customer and internal problems.
- Provide continuous improvement of rework processes to prevent non-conformities from rework entering production. Conduct work overchecks, as necessary.
- Support for New Product Introduction activities, including assessment of feasibility for production and launch readiness, with a focus on design for rework & repair informed by lessons learnt.
Key Competencies and Experience
- A complete set of technical skills required as a trained mechanical technician.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engine mechanics.
- IT literacy to level of MS office basics.
- Ability to work with other departments and build effective working relationships team to maximise the challenges of this position is essential.
Desirable
- Experience of leading a team in a workshop environment.
- Use of INCA software.
