The Role

We are seeking a Project Engineer in Gasoline ICE Calibration & Controls to deliver on-going client project in Bridgeport, Alabama.

Our controls and calibration teams are responsible for development of a complex control system and its calibration for high-performance outboard gasoline motor. Our support to the customer covers the full spectrum of control system and calibration development, from clean sheet, through to fully validated production control system and calibration. In this role, you will be primarily working on calibration development for full outboard motor assembly, but may be expected to support other technical domains. 

To deliver work as part of a project team:

  • Technical development of calibration for high-power gasoline outboard motor
  • Calibration development predominantly on full outboard motor assembly level (on boat)
  • Support to development of control systems (for transmission and steering)
  • Issues resolution; integration support
  • Technical analysis to achieve tasks with sound evidence base
  • Responsibility for delivering assigned tasks to time, cost and quality
  • Liaison with wider team members to organise and deliver project activities as required
  • Interface directly with client on technical issues
  • Reporting of technical status internally and to customers
  • Supervision of junior team members on assigned tasks

Required Qualifications & Experience:

The successful applicant will have calibration and/or controls background, and a number of years of experience in successfully delivering projects in engine calibration or related disciplines. Technical background in the calibration of Engine Management Systems, knowledge of traditional calibration and data analysis tools, control systems development experience, and a sound understanding of engine fundamentals is required. Capability to resolve technical issues is a must.

The role will be significantly supplier & customer facing.  The candidate will be expected to liaise with customer on a regular basis.

Role is primarily based in Bridgeport, Alabama, US. A certain amount of business travel can be expected including customer meetings, and travel to other Ricardo sites.
