Biography

Dr. Leonidas Paroussos is Director for Ricardo's industry leading Energy and Economic Modelling team, bringing over two decades of expertise in economic modelling, climate policy assessment, and sustainable development analysis. He has a strong track record in project management and interdisciplinary team coordination, driving high-impact research and policy advisory work.

Leonidas is one of the principal architects behind Ricardo's macroeconomic multi-sectoral global model (GEM-E3), a widely used for assessing the economic impacts of energy and climate policies. 

His core expertise spans climate change policy assessment, environmental and energy economics, and transport analysis. His work has supported major international institutions and policy-making bodies in shaping pathways toward low-carbon and resilient economies.

A regular contributor to leading academic journals such as Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Complexity Economics, and Economics Letters, Leonidas continues to advance the field through both scholarly research and practical policy applications.

He holds a degree in Economics from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, an MSc in Finance from the University of Essex (UK), and a PhD focused on “Energy and Climate Change: An Economic Analysis in the Context of Computable General Equilibrium”.
