Martin Banks is a seasoned energy sector consultant with over 18 years of experience delivering complex, high-value projects across renewables, energy storage, and clean energy infrastructure. As Renewables & Energy Storage Lead at Ricardo, Martin brings deep technical expertise and strategic insight to the forefront of energy transition initiatives.
Prior to joining Ricardo, Martin held senior leadership roles at Wood Plc, where he directed multidisciplinary teams across the UK, EMEA, and APAC. His portfolio spans green hydrogen, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar and wind master-planning, and multi-gigawatt green ammonia developments. He has served as Project Director and Technical Advisor on landmark projects, providing expert guidance from feasibility through to implementation.
Martin’s engineering background (MEng, CEng, MIMechE) underpins his ability to navigate the technical, commercial, and regulatory complexities of modern energy systems. His strengths lie in technoeconomic optimisation, risk management, and delivering robust business cases for innovative energy solutions.
