Ricardo appointed production partner for the Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider transmission

Ricardo will apply its expertise in advanced transmission manufacture and assembly to the Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider hypercar.

As the trusted engineering partner for multiple world-leading, prestigious automotive original equipment manufacturers, Ricardo has been confirmed by Aston Martin as the supplier of the advanced transmission for the Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider hypercar.
 
Following the successful supply of the transmission for the highly acclaimed coupe variant of Aston Martin’s hypercar, the Valkyrie, Ricardo will continue to supply the new Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider.   Ricardo’s proven track record in motorsport together with experience in delivering to world-leading original equipment manufacturers in the highly regulated global automotive sector provided a platform for successful delivery of the coupe and now the Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider.

The Valkyrie hypercar delivers world-leading track performance combined with compliance and usability to ensure owners can enjoy their cars both on the road and at the circuit.
 
Originally designed by Ricardo, the complex seven-speed automated manual transmission is needed to support both road and track use. The significant challenges posed by combining these two differing environments contributed to Aston Martin’s decision to engage Ricardo to design, develop, manufacture and test both the transmission system and the associated control software.
 
Ricardo will complete the manufacture and assembly of the transmission from its Midlands Technical Centre in the UK from where marques such as Bugatti and Porsche are also supported with world-leading transmission supply.
