Eynesbury’s new wastewater treatment plant supports sustainable water use with Class A recycled water
Customer Challenge
Eynesbury Water Pty Ltd needed a sustainable solution to manage wastewater and reduce reliance on potable water for non-drinking uses, particularly for the irrigation of the Eynesbury Golf Course in Victoria, Australia. The goal was to implement a high-quality recycled water system that complied with strict health and environmental regulations while supporting long-term water conservation.
Ricardo Solution
Ricardo, an environmental consultancy, partnered with Eynesbury Water from 2021 to support the development and commissioning of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) capable of producing Class A recycled water—the highest quality for non-potable use. Ricardo developed a detailed validation and commissioning plan in line with Department of Health guidelines, which received EPA approval in 2022. Post-installation, Ricardo conducted thorough onsite sampling over three days, evaluating pathogen reduction and water quality to confirm compliance. A comprehensive commissioning report was submitted as part of the successful A14 permit application process.
Customer Benefit
With EPA approval granted in March 2025, the Eynesbury WTP is now fully operational, providing a reliable source of Class A recycled water for the golf course. This onsite treatment system significantly reduces dependence on potable water, promotes sustainable water use, and exemplifies smart resource management. As one of the few privately operated Class A plants in Victoria, the project enhances Eynesbury’s environmental credentials while delivering practical, long-term water security.
