Clare Ferguson

Clare has extensive experience across the technical, on-ground and strategic elements of environmental management. Clare’s background as a river and stormwater engineer enables her to effectively navigate the interface between technical water and environmental management, and strategy, planning, and evaluation. Clare specialises in assisting clients to develop compelling and practical outcomes-based strategies, implementation design, governance frameworks, and performance systems. She is also an experienced evaluator, having designed and conducted evaluations for programs of various sizes, including complex, interagency programs.

Clare has a strong track record of leading complex projects with a focus on collaborative working relationships with clients and stakeholders. She is also skilled facilitator, having led many effective engagement processes with diverse stakeholders, including Board Directors and executive leaders; policy, technical and on-ground staff; landholders; and Traditional Owners. She is recognised for her ability to foster collaboration between internal stakeholders and with delivery partners, elicit and synthesise meaningful insights, and to bring those who matter on the journey to achieve alignment with and ownership of the outcome.

As the Lead for the Australian Water and Environment Team’s Strategy and Performance Community of Practice, she also regularly provides technical leadership and guidance across a range of strategy, MER, and engagement projects.
