Nick Clarke
Biography
Nick has held utility, industry and consulting roles over two decades in the water sector. With a background in environmental engineering and economics, he delivers insightful analysis to inform strategic, evidence-based decision-making.
An accomplished project manager with strong communication skills, his strength in critical and analytical thinking is underpinned by a strong understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, and water resource management, regulation and policy. As part of Ricardo's Water Utilities and Infrastructure team, he provides strategic, policy and economic advisory services to utilities and governments around Australia and internationally.
Nick has extensive experience across infrastructure investment appraisal, cost-benefit analysis, business case development, strategic planning, pricing arrangements, and developing and implementing decision-making frameworks.
Nick has a strong interest in water security and associated strategic planning, analysis and decision-making. He has experience delivering water supply-demand strategies, integrated water management and recycled water plans, and the economic appraisal and business case development for proposed water security investments. He also led Ricardo’s work for the Australian Government to develop a town and city water security framework, which provides a definition and evaluation approach for water security.
Nick applies a multi-disciplinary background to inform clear, robust and useable decision-making processes for problems and contexts that are often complex and uncertain. His technical abilities are complemented by strong communication skills, particularly in preparing written outputs that convey complexity in a way that is readily accessible.
