Battery CFD Engineer

The Role
This role is for a Battery CFD Engineer in the Mechanical Capability Group. You’ll work on battery development projects, using Star-CCM+ to assess thermal management and model scenarios like thermal runaway.
It’s a hands-on role where you’ll help clients understand how different designs and technologies interact, deliver solutions on time and within budget, and see your work directly shape real-world products.
Key Responsibilities
- To work on engineering activities for cooling, thermal modelling of battery systems
- Responsible for working closely with a design and development team to assess functionality and performance of the developed systems; discuss and agree on requirements and targets
- Modelling and analysis of fluid systems using 3D fluid dynamics and thermal analysis tools
- Technical reporting; interpretation of results and suggestions for improvements
- Work to internal and client quality procedures and validation processes.
Key Competencies and Experience
- Minimum degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline (e.g. electrical and electronic engineering / mechanical engineering / physics / computer science / software engineering / maths / control engineering)
- A sound knowledge of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics theory
- Strong experience with 3D CFD Star CCM+ for battery modelling including thermal runaway
- Able to work independently, setting task priorities to deliver the required project deliverables on time
- Must be able to communicate and make presentations with a high degree of clarity, having the ability to write and deliver technical presentations to both internal project teams and clients, at gateway and management reviews
- Proactive, self-motivated, and attention to detail
