Chief Program Engineer

We are looking to recruit a Chief Program Engineer to join our team in the Michigan office. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical leadership of an engineering team to deliver projects for Ricardo’s customers (including major vehicle OEMs), including integration of advanced propulsion systems, such as hybrid, battery electrical and hydrogen fuel cell into automotive and commercial vehicles.
  • Leading and overseeing all aspects of the design and development process, from concept and prototype through to start-of-production, including:
    • Mechanical, electrical, thermal and control systems design and integration
    • Component specification, selection and supplier management
    • Attribute and Bill of Materials management
    • Analysis of propulsion and thermal systems, structural and crash performance
    • Functional safety
    • Prototype and production build activities
    • Vehicle and component test and validation
  • Supporting preparation of project proposals and scope variations as required.
  • Responsible for delighting both internal and external customers, while demonstrating Ricardo’s core values of respect, integrity, creativity and innovation, and passion.
  • Open to flexible working arrangements. Some travel (US and International) will be required.

Key Competencies and Experience

  • A track record of leading vehicle engineering programmes within the automotive industry through to production.
  • Experience of low volume automotive OEM development and production processes would be highly valuable.
  • Strong technical background and expertise in vehicle programme definition and leadership across chassis, powertrain, thermal, electrical and control systems.
  • Ability to lead systems engineering processes, such as requirements management, DFMEA and DVP&R.
  • Proven team leadership and interpersonal skills; able to draw upon the strength and breadth of Ricardo’s technical team to achieve on time and on budget delivery of the project.
  • Excellent customer management communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Project.
