Our work provides the bedrock for many national air quality monitoring networks, enabling us to be ideally placed to deliver tailored air quality monitoring solutions for clients in the public and private sector.
Better Air Quality (BAQ) Conference 2026
For over 70 years, Ricardo has delivered market-leading measurement, modelling, and emissions inventory compilation and reporting for air quality pollutants and greenhouse gases. This heritage has provided the key evidence which supports internationally leading air quality policy, legislation and technical resources initially in the UK and Europe, and now Asia.
We are building on this to share our expertise with cities and national governments worldwide, with substantial air quality policy, monitoring, modelling and capacity programmes, throughout Asia (including: Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh and many more), South America and Africa. We work in partnership with international funding agencies, city and national authorities and civil society organisations to deliver cleaner air quality for many of the world’s most vulnerable people
Providing the emissions evidence base to enable cost-effective mitigation of pollutants, supported by expert advice tailored to your needs.
From local dispersion assessments to national modelling programmes we support a comprehensive range of assignments.
Utilising the latest data visualisation techniques we help you understand the influence of different sources on measured levels of air pollutants.
How we can help
Independent QA/QC of air quality sensor data
Air quality sensor data can be misleading without proper correction and ongoing QA/QC. We ensure reliable, real-world representative measurements suitable for public health, traffic management, and Smart City applications.
Getting more from air quality data
Ricardo's RapidAir® software provides a much-needed
diagnostics and decision-support capability to help tackle the challenge of improving urban air quality.
Understanding real-world driving emissions
By accurately measuring real-world driving emissions, we deliver the local insight necessary to inform the cost-effective design of low-emission policy.
Delivering on net zero action plans
We have outlined a road map to deliver viable, credible carbon reduction strategies along the value chain, helping local authorities, cities and regions.
Air pollution emissions reporting
Providing you the tools to estimate and report on your organisation’s air pollutant emissions and greenhouse gas emissions, supporting good corporate environmental, social, and governance performance.
Asia Clean Blue Skies
Alongside project partners, Clean Air Asia, Ricardo are supporting the design and delivery of capacity building and technology sharing for a range of stakeholders across ADB, within DMCs, and other partner organisations.
Erdenet's Air Quality Action Plan
Ricardo helped Erdenet, Mongolia, develop a Clean Air Action Plan addressing industrial “white dust” and residential coal emissions by using high-resolution monitoring and modeling to guide practical, fundable interventions with local authorities and the copper mine.
Delivering Warsaw’s first Low Emission Zone
Ricardo supported Warsaw in designing its first Low Emission Zone by using air quality and economic modelling to assess pollutant reductions, health benefits, and cost impacts, guiding the city’s adoption of the scheme in 2024.
