Ports Australia: BizOps 2025
Short for ‘Business Operations’, BizOps is a conference to share advances in port operations and explore the future requirements in response to increased digitalisation, automation and use of artificial intelligence.
Presenting findings from two feasibility studies on green shipping corridors, Jorge Martin Gistau shares the main learnings from recent projects which sought to establish the feasibility of reducing GHG emissions through using alternative energy sources on two specific RoRo shipping routes, in terms of the environmental impacts, the economics, the business case, and the replicability to other routes.
Audiences will gain insight on:
- How hybrid methanol compares against alternative options for the Holyhead-Dublin RoRo crossing, including full electric.
- What changes would be needed at the ports to accommodate the changes in fuel(s).
- What are the outcomes of the environmental (GHG) and economic assessments for these corridors?
- Under what conditions the business case is positive for moving ahead?
- What potential there is for replicability of these green shipping corridors to other ferry crossings.
